Ahmed Mahdi Alshuwaikhat is a fiction writer with an impressive portfolio of three novels written in Arabic. His first book, “The Pomegranate Wells”, was published in 2000 and was followed by “The American Who Read Gilgamesh” in 2022, long-listed for the Katara Prize for Arabic Novels. His most recent work, “Sea of Libra”, was published in 2023 and submitted for the prestigious International Prize of Arabic Novel (IPAF).

Ahmed holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University in Sociology of Language and Education, earned in 1985. He has over two decades of experience as a university teacher and served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Global Arabic Encyclopedia. Currently, Ahmed dedicates his time to community volunteer work and writing. His passion for writing and expertise in sociology and education enrich his storytelling with depth and nuance.
